THE FIRM:

LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. was formed in February 2000, when Mark LaRose welcomed his long-time friend, Joe Bosco, into partnership. Mr. LaRose was formerly owner of Mark A. LaRose, Ltd. (MAL, Ltd.), formerly a partner with Gessler, Hughes & Socol, Ltd. in Chicago, and a former Illinois Assistant Attorney General.  After four years of government service and 10 years in private practice, Mr. LaRose decided to open his own Firm in 1996.  Mary Karson, his legal assistant of more than 10 years, joined him. In February 2000, Joe Bosco agreed to join Mark as a full partner. Joe was a partner with Kaplan, Begy & von Ohlen in Chicago, and brought 18 years of litigation experience to LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. In March 2003, David Koppelman joined the Firm as associate attorney after practicing for 14 years as a member of Allstate Insurance Company's Staff Counsel. In November, 2003, Justin Burtnett joined the Firm as associate attorney after clerking part-time for the Firm for more than a year while attending law school. In November of 2007, David Berault and Charisse Logarta also joined the Firm as associate attorneys after having been long time law clerks at the Firm while attending law school. In June 2008, after previously clerking for the Firm while attending law school, Andrew Sperry joined the Firm as an associate attorney.

LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. is dedicated to providing the best personalized service at a reasonable cost.  Of Counsel to the Firm are Joseph G. Alioto, an experienced civil and criminal trial lawyer and Clarissa Y. Cutler, who previously practiced full-time with the Firm. Legal assistants Mary Karson, Nancy Cravens, Nancy McDonald, Christine Davis, law clerks Thadd Bringas and Mathew Robinson, receptionist/office assiatant Rachel Mallinga, and accounting/bookkeeper Stephen Summers round out the LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. team.

In September 2000, the Firm opened a full service office in New Buffalo, Michigan, where our lawyers and staff handle commercial and real estate transactions, civil litigation and other general practice matters. LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. has the depth to handle a full caseload of complex matters.  LaRose & Bosco's lawyers routinely try cases and argue appeals in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

CIVIL LITIGATION PRACTICE:

Mark LaRose, Joe Bosco, Clarissa Cutler Grayson, David Koppelman, Justin Burtnett, David Berault, Charisse Logarta, Andrew Sperry, Joe Alioto and Clarissa Cutler have more than 100 years of combined litigation experience, from small commercial cases to complex multi-party, multi-million dollar litigation. 

Mr. LaRose is well-known as an aggressive and successful litigator.  His reputation in the legal community is one of strong advocacy for his clients tempered with integrity and respect for his opponents and the legal process.  Mr. LaRose has won two civil jury verdicts in excess of one million dollars - one in a 1996 securities fraud case against one of the largest banks in the world; the other against a south suburban municipality in a 1989 civil rights case.  In a December 1999 jury trial, Mr. LaRose successfully defended five clients against a bank attempting to enforce $1 million in bank guarantees.

During his legal career, Joe Bosco has been involved in many complex catastrophic litigation matters. Some notable examples include litigation arising out of: Korean Airlines Flight 007 Disaster on September 1, 1983; the grounding of the Oil Tanker, AMOCO Cadiz off the coast of Brittany, France on March 16, 1978; the crash of Philippine Airlines Flight 206 on June 26, 1987 near Baguio City, the Philippines; United Airlines Flight 232 near Sioux City, Iowa on July 19, 1989; the mid-air collision involving a Sun Oil helicopter and Lycoming Air Services aircraft in lower Merion, Pennsylvania on  April 4, 1991 (resulting in six deaths, including the late Senator John Heinz).Mr. Bosco has also been involved in numerous other litigation matters arising from products liability, general aviation, construction, automobile, and industrial accidents, and has litigated in various forums both nationally and internationally including Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, and in various states including Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Alaska, California, Texas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Louisiana, Georgia, Kentucky and Ohio.  Mr. Bosco has also been involved in numerous construction and commercial litigation matters, and has extensive experience in construction wrap-up insurance program litigation.  He has worked with a variety of insurance brokers and underwriters on wrap-up construction projects including the Delta Airlines construction at Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport and the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport; Scott Air Force Base in  Mascoutah, Illinois; United Airlines Maintenance Facility at the Indianapolis International Airport; and the International Terminal Project at O'Hare International Airport.

David Koppelman joined the Firm in March 2003 and brings with him 14 years trial experience as a member of Allstate Insurance Company's Staff Counsel Office in Chicago.  Dave was instrumental in creating the "Special Investigation Unit" (SIU) at the Chicago Staff Counsel Office which defended matters involving suspicious and/or fraudulent activity.  Dave was the Team Leader and Process Specialist of the SIU.  He has successfully defended numerous Allstate insureds in personal injury cases at trial, as well as arbitration. He has extensive personal injury litigation experience and has handled a wide variety of insurance coverage issues on behalf of Allstate.

Justin Burtnett joined the Firm in November 2003, after clerking with the Firm part-time for more than a year while attending law school. Justin works on a wide variety of matters, including commercial litigation, environmental, and personal injury/wrongful death litigation.

David Berault joined the Firm in November 2007. David worked as a law clerk for the Firm for several years while attending law school part-time. He works on a wide variety of matters including commercial litigation and personal injury/wrongful death litigation.

Charisse Logarta joined the Firm in November 2007 after clerking with the Firm part-time for more than a year while attending law school. Charisse works on a wide variety of matters including commercial litigation, environmental and personal injury/wrongful death litigation.

Andrew T. Sperry joined the Firm in June of 2008 after working as Deputy Legal Counsel for State Representative Tom Cross, Minority Leader of the Illinois House of Representatives. Andrew previously worked as a law clerk with the Firm on a part-time basis from May 2004 through December 2005 while attending law school. Andrew works on a wide variety of matters including commercial litigation, environmental and personal injury/wrongful death litigation.

Joe Alioto has handled civil, criminal and juvenile law matters ranging from felonies to multi-million dollar personal injury lawsuits.  Joe Alioto is a Wisconsin Court Commissioner, and an experienced litigator in both complex civil and criminal matters.  In addition to operating his own successful practice, Joe consults with and assists the Firm in all matters involving claims or transactions in Wisconsin.

Clarissa Y. Cutler (f/k/a Clarissa C. Grayson) became Of Counsel to the Firm in June of 2008 when she started her own law practice. Ms. Cutler was an attorney with the Firm from February 2001 to June 2008 and prior to that, she clerked with the Honorable Aaron Jaffe for two years. Ms. Cutler will assist the Firm on matters including commercial litigation, commercial and residential real estate transactions, and personal injury/wrongful death litigation.

The Firm's corporate and commercial transactions practice is streamlined by design. Our goal is to achieve the best result for our clients at reasonable costs. Mr. LaRose has hands-on corporate experience in that he has served as general counsel to two major clients of his former firm.

LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. is also affiliated with the law Firm of Amari & Locallo, which exclusively practices in the area of commercial real estate assessment and taxation. Amari & Locallo conducts all real estate tax work for select clients of LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. We believe Amari & Locallo has the best real estate tax lawyers in the nation. ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICE:

Environmental law has been a major area of concentration for Mr. LaRose since he was an Illinois Assistant Attorney General prosecuting civil and criminal enforcement cases from 1983 to 1986.  Mr. LaRose prosecuted the first case in Illinois under Illinois State Superfund provisions.  Mr. LaRose routinely handles environmental matters relating to solid and hazardous waste management (CERCLA, RCRA and related regulations), water pollution, air pollution, asbestos abatement, toxic tort claims, worker health and safety, land use, zoning, insurance coverage, and civil and criminal enforcement.Present environmental clients of LaRose & Bosco, Ltd. include:  Metal Management Midwest, Inc., Community Landfill Company,  Metal Recycling Systems, Aero Auto Parts, New Cats Auto, The Alsip Environmental Coalition and Pajay, Inc.

*Fee structures for Joseph G. Alioto and Clarissa Y. Cutler are established on a case-by-case basis depending on the matters included and the needs of the clients. We do have custom fee arrangements with several of our clients as particular cases may allow. In these cases, our fee arrangements may range from reduced hourly rates for volume clients, to monthly retainer plus expenses, to hybrid hourly/contingent fee arrangements, to pure contingent fee arrangements in the appropriate matters, including personal injury.Regarding our billing practices, we feel it is absolutely essential to keep our clients promptly and specifically advised of the status of our representation. Therefore, we issue monthly, itemized bills that will show each hour of attorney and legal assistant time, a complete description of the activity and a detail of all disbursements chargeable to the client. If you retain LaRose & Bosco, Ltd., every month you will know exactly what you are being charged for, and how much each task costs. That is our commitment and obligation to our clients.
